Vitamin B12 Injection Services in Leicester

Here at Home Vaccinations Leicester, we believe that good healthcare should be accessible to all, no matter what. This is one of the many reasons why we choose to make our services as simple and straightforward as possible. Although we specialise in vaccinations, we also provide our much valued Vitamin B12 injection service too.

Vitamin B12 deficiency affects a large number of the UK population, and symptoms can often cause extreme tiredness, breathlessness, headaches, and more. Vitamin B12 deficiency is often caused by other underlying conditions such as pernicious anaemia, and can be debilitating; making day-to-day proceedings difficult, it can also be as a result of diet changes, e.g. vegan/ vegetarian.

If you have already been diagnosed with Vitamin B12 deficiency, our fully qualified and licensed team of Clinical Pharmacists here at Home Vaccinations are able to advise on, and administer our extremely safe and effective Vitamin B12 injections; helping you feel energised and get back to your day-to-day proceedings.

Vitamin B12 is a nutrient needed to keep your body fit and healthy. Vitamin B12 comes from the vitamins absorbed from food – particularly meat, fish, eggs and dairy. Vitamin B12 deficiency can be associated with certain conditions, e.g. pernicious anaemia or it may be diet related, particularly in those following a vegan diet.

Symptoms

Vary from person to person, but can include extreme tiredness and lack of energy, breathlessness and feeling faint, headaches, pale skin, heart palpitations and sometimes a loss of appetite and weight loss.

Have you been diagnosed with Vitamin B12 deficiency?

We can only treat you at Home Vaccinations if you have been diagnosed with Vitamin B12 deficiency. There are many other causes of fatigue and we need to ensure we are offering you the right treatment. Each cause of vitamin B12 deficiency has a different treatment regime and thus we would need to know the cause of your deficiency, e.g. diet related, pernicious anaemia etc, to determine what regime is right for you.

If you have previously been Vitamin B12 deficient and it was related to diet, you can be offered 6 monthly injections.

You must complete the assessment form and confirm diagnosis (or previous diagnosis). We can then determine what regime would be beneficial for you.

Side effects?

The Vitamin B12 injection is generally very safe. However, some people may experience some pain, swelling or redness at the injection site, and in much rarer cases headaches, itching or nausea. If any of these symptoms persist or worsen please contact your GP or NHS 111.
